Senior Marketing Manager
Responsibilities
- Set sales target for each quarter for each product, six months in advance.
- Pre-book orders from farmers and dealers at-least 3 months in advance.
- Work in conjunction with production team to supply material on time.
- Organize transportation of material to customer.
- Follow up with dealers and farmers on receipt of material.
- Take note and act on any complaints received from customers regarding the product.
- Provide service to customers by making a monthly visit to them and taking update on the progress of their crop.
- Give technical guidance to clients, if needed.
- Tackle any legal issue or dispute arising from customer.
- Market any and all crops propagated by the company (i.e. either ornamental or horticulture) to farmers and dealers.
- Poach the dealers of current plant tissue culture companies.
- Establish a network of our own dealers in every region of every state in India.
- Initiate tie-up’s with government agencies (NRCP) and Indian companies.
- Approach international players and look for new tie-up opportunities.
- Apply for government and private tenders.
- Participate in Exhibitions.
- Follow up with interested parties, post-exhibition.
- Organize seminars.
- Be responsible for creating a brand image by giving newspaper ads, designing pamphlets, printing banners, distributing technical brochures, recording videos of success stories, etc.
- Hire and train marketing executives to visit new prospective clients as well as take monthly reports from existing customers.
- Set necessary systems in place required for the smooth functioning of the marketing department.
- Follow up on the implementation of the above laid out systems.
- Make sure that there is proper record maintaining taking place.
- Submit consolidated monthly reports to management for review.
- Should bring along with him a significant client base, based on his own goodwill in the industry.
- Should be able to help the company achieve exponential growth for the first five years (by ensuring apt product mix and tie-up opportunities).
Skills
- Should be able to study local market scenario, and suggest apt product mix for company.
- Should be able to determine trends and analyze market cycles, and thus recommend to production team which crop to product in which season and in what quantity.
- Should be able to know new upcoming products in the marketplace.
Qualifications
- Should be a graduate and possess a degree from a reputed and accredited Indian
college. - Should possess a basic understanding of the agricultural scenario in India and plant tissue culture in general.
- Should be versatile in computers and technology.
- Should know how to use Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Should be fluent in Hindi, Marathi, & English.
- Should possess a minimum of 5 years’ of experience in marketing and selling of tissue cultured plants in India.
- Should have worked at ground level for a minimum of 3 years and should have travelled/explored markets pan-India (not just in Maharashtra).
- Should have guided a team of marketing executives for a minimum of 2 years.
- Should have experience in marketing of horticulture (banana, pomegranate,strawberry, sugarcane) as well as floriculture (gerbera, orchids, lilium, carnation,etc.) crops in India.
- Should have experience in dealing and communicating with farmers + dealers of different starts on a regular basis.
- Should have experience in tackling challenging circumstances where farmers threaten to sue company, demand extra plants for unwarranted damage, etc.
- Should know how to tactfully deal with such individuals without hurting the sentiments of any party or claiming responsibility.
- Should have experience in appointing new dealers in different regions state-wise and expanding the base of operations on a yearly basis.
- Should have experience in organizing exhibitions.
- Should have experience in applying and submitting major government tenders (Example: Gujarat State Fertilizer Tender, Assam Forestry Department Tender).
- Should have experience in recruiting and training of marketing executives and taking necessary reports from them.
- Should have experience in organizing seminars and gathering speakers, farmers, and dealers from different regions to visit.
- Should have experience in designing and creating pamphlets, technical brochures, banners, videos, etc. for marketing purposes.
- Should have approached and initiated a tie-up with a different company (Indian or international).
